For those of you who did not receive or read my article in last November’s newsletter, you may read it here.
A brief recap: my name is Robert Doyon and approx. 10 years ago I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I am married to Anne (clinical nutritionist at Dr. Brkich’s clinic) and Dr.Brkich is my brother-in-law.
I am so happy to hear about those who took action after reading the article and went to get a prostate exam and full blood work. Early detection is the key to having a healthy long life with many prostate cancers.
Dr. Brkich asked if I would mind giving an update on my health because there have been so many people asking. Thank you so much for your care and thoughts and I am happy to share my progress with you all.
I feel great and recently had blood work done, a prostate exam and a biopsy (which is routine when you are under active surveillance). Everything is looking good. Anne is more relaxed when I choose to eat Mrs Vickies chips once in a while, have a beer on occasion, and when I sit down to enjoy my favourite Haagen Dazs chocolate ice cream (like the saying goes-happy wife-happy life). Since my early 20’s, and before Anne came into my life, eating healthy and being physically active was always a part of my lifestyle. What is different today is that I have a better understanding of what supplements to take, which foods are healthier for me and what factors may have contributed to increasing my risk of developing cancer. Knowledge is power and I am so grateful for it.
Thanks again to everyone for your support, kind words, and for sharing your stories.
