Kids Immune Friendly Smoothie Packs!

Updated: Sep 9, 2020

Preparation for making smoothie packs:

I sliced bananas into one or two inch pieces, lay them in a tray and freeze them- then I put them in a freezer bag.

I buy bananas, kefir, yogurt, baby spinach leaves, frozen blueberries, frozen mangoes, frozen pineapple, frozen mixed berries, frozen avocado, and frozen strawberries.

I place the kefir or yogurt in ice cube trays, freeze them and then put them in BPA free ziploc bags or containers and put them back in the freezer.

I make about 3 varieties of smoothie packs:

Each pack will have half of a banana (about 3 frozen pieces), 2 yogurt or kefir cubes, 1 cup of frozen fruit, and some will have added 1/2 cup packed greens like baby spinach.

Be sure to squeeze out the air and zip the bag shut. Place in the freezer.

To prepare: Pour 10 fl oz of water or milk/milk alternative in a blender. Add one frozen smoothie pack and blend until smooth.

Some of our favourites:

Banana, pineapple, mango, spinach, yogurt and water

Banana, blueberries, avocado (1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup avocado),  spinach and 1 cup diluted healthy planet pomegranate/blueberry juice

Banana, strawberries -1 cup- , 1/2 cup ice cubes,  1 cups of diluted orange juice

The sky's the limit. Buy organic as much as possible. Costco has a good selection of frozen fruit and vegetables at an affordable price.
